Real Friends Announce New Album ‘The Home Inside My Head’

Tinley Park, IL’s Real Friends has announced the details for their second full-length album The Home Inside My Head, to release May 27th. Pre-order options for the new album are now available at RealFriendsBand.com.

Pairing with the album announcement, the band has dropped their brand new song “Colder Quicker,” which was written by lead vocalist Dan Lambton. The track is comes as an instant download with the pre-order of the new album, and is available for purchase on iTunes. Listen to “Colder Quicker” below.

To record The Home Inside My Head, the band treaded new territory by recording with two producers, three songs with producer Mike Green (Pierce The Veil, All Time Low) and nine with Steve Evetts (The Wonder Years, Dillinger Escape Plan). As they expanded their sonic palette, the lyrical vision also grew. Another first, Dan Lambton would split writing duties, penning lyrics to four songs. The Home Inside My Head is Real Friends’ coming-of-age story, about a common realization that things won’t be the same as they were during childhood, and that’s okay. The Tinley Park, IL quintet chose to put this journey on tape and let their lyrics spin into something positive, used as a therapeutic outlet for both Kyle and Dan. Noted as one of Alternative Press Magazine’s Most Anticipated Albums of 2016, and a truly personal album for Real Friends, the band hopes The Home Inside My Head, will resonate with fans in their own unique way, giving them something to relate to and connect with individually.

Today, Tinley Park, IL’s Real Friends has released the music video for new song “Scared To Be Alone”. The song is taken from the band’s new album The Home Inside My Head, set to release May 27th and available for pre-order at RealFriendsBand.com.

Filmed in Louisville, KY, director Max Moore brought bassist Kyle Fasel’s emotionally personal lyrics to life. “The lyrical content of the song is about my mom, so it hits pretty close to home for me,” explains Kyle. “My mom and I have a great relationship. But over the past few years she has put herself in some situations that she doesn’t deserve. It’s hard to watch someone you love make bad decisions. All you want to do is help but you can’t seem to get through to them. I think that’s something we will all deal with in life. It’s real hard but I’m glad to make a positive out of the situation by writing about it.”

Breaking rock band Pierce the Veil has released “Circles,” a brand new song from their next album, Misadventures, due out May 13 on Fearless Records.  Just yesterday, “Circles” was named the “Hottest Record in the World” on BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac show, and in less than 24-hours, the song has soared past 100,000 YouTube hits. In addition, it’s trending worldwide on Facebook. “Circles” goes to U.S. rock and alternative radio today, and you can check out the song below.

“Circles” was inspired by last Fall’s Paris terrorist attacks and is a hypothesized story about two friends at the the Eagles of Death Metal show and how they tried to save each other as the onslaught was taking place.

Misadventures is the follow up album to PTV’s 2012 Collide With the Sky that debuted at #12 on Billboard’s album chart, has sold more than 400,000 copies worldwide, and earned a Gold single for the track “King For A Day, with its companion music video now north of 66-million YouTube views.

Pierce The Veil
Misadventures
(Fearless Records)

There’s been a four year gap in between Pierce The Veil releases, making Misadventures an important record for the band. Not only does it have Collide with the Sky to live up to, but the scene has taken fair hits in popularity in the past few years. There aren’t too many groups doing this genre justice anymore, so perhapsMisadventures has even more riding on it than just the expectations of longtime fans.

That being said, the new collection definitely does some right by borrowing from PTV’s entire discography, bringing forth the youthful and sometimes mystical-sounding angst of A Flair for the Dramatic, the ambitious writing of Selfish Machines, and the explosive excitement of Collide with the Sky. However, the album doesn’t actually take any new chances itself; Misadventures doesn’t leave you feeling blown away or thoroughly impressed. There aren’t really any surprises here, which begs the question; do we now know what can be expected of Pierce The Veil? Still, this issue aside, Misadventures features some truly wonderful moments throughout. “Dive In” kicks off the album with some pounding builds and flowing structures; the single, “Texas Is Forever”, is standard flare, but a blast; “Floral & Fading” plays like a seductive mistress; “Gold Medal Ribbon” is fused with anthem-like moments of energetic pop and alternative cool-downs; and “Song for Isabelle” closes the record with soothing swoons and a familiar and powerful lyric granted to us by Travie McCoy (Lazarus, “Akidagain”).

Pierce The Veil may have reached that Plateau level in their career, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Their formula is still an enjoyable and expansive one, so if you liked any of their previous releases, chances are high that Misadventures will still give you a chubby enough times to make a worthy purchase. Fearless Records welcomes Los Angeles, CA’s heavy rock five-piece Volumes to the family.

“We ultimately came to the decision to sign with Fearless Records after spending years watching them evolve into one of the top labels,” explains bassist Raad Soudani. “The Fearless Records ‘family’ is a perfect fit for Volumes. We feel more confident moving forward as group and believe this opportunity will open”

The band has been busy putting the finishing touches on their new album, set to release this fall, with the addition of new singer Myke Terry (formerly of Bury Your Dead). To give fans a first listen of new music, the band has released their new song and music video for “Feels Good” (watch below). The track will be available for purchase tonight on iTunes at 9pm PT / 12am ET.

Singer Myke Terry explains, “This song is about realizing we all have a story to tell. Everyone has to deal with their own problems and demons. There’s beauty in finding the strength to pull yourself out of darkness. It’s horribly bleak when you’re down in the trenches…. It feels good to come out on top.”

Formed in 2009, Volumes are known to blend together an eclectic mix musical influences, forging a creative bond between several types of genres that are worlds apart. The line up includes Myke Terry (Vocals), Gus Farias (Vocals), Diego Farias (Guitar), Raad Soudani (Bass), Nick Ursich (Drums). Volumes has been a stand-out in their genre for having two dynamic vocalists, utilizing different ranges of singing and screaming to create a layered, charismatic, volatile sound which leaves listeners begging for more. The combination of their efforts results in a fusion between intricate patterns, melodies, aggressive, straight to the point, metal. The band is currently putting the finishing touches on their third full-length, which will follow 2014’s No Sleep, and Via (2011), which both peaked at #1 on the iTunes Rock & Metal Charts.

Milestones Signs To Fearless Records, Releases New Song “Nothing Left”

Manchester UK pop-punk, alternative quintet Milestones has announced they are now a part of the Fearless Records family. Along with the announcement, the band has premiered their brand new single, “Nothing Left,” along with an accompanying music video. The track is taken from Milestones’ debut EP, Equal Measures, which is set to release July 8. Digital and physical preorders are available now at MilestonesBand.co.uk.

“When the label first got in contact with us, we were completely over the moon because so many of our favorite bands growing up are signed to Fearless even today: Mayday Parade, Pierce The Veil, Real Friends,” says vocalist Matt Clarke. “We’ve seen the recent growth of bands like As It Is and Movements, and it made it a real no-brainer for us. We’re really focused on taking this energy and using it to accelerate Milestones even further, and keep growing and learning. We started with the ethic of hard work, and we’re so pleased a label with the same attitude can support us.”

Directed by Lewis Cater, the video for “Nothing Left” reflects the progression of Milestones and gives insight into the root and core of the group, with the song itself being one of the first songs the band ever wrote. The track follows a time during a break up and remembering to love yourself in the process.

“Not many directors come up with the idea to turn an old house into a small hurricane,” says guitarist Eden Leviston of the video. “I feel that this video was a real test of the perfectionist inside us due to this being our first release under Fearless. I can’t even begin to describe the amount of detail we went into for every single take; it was insane – from slightly altering facial expressions to having synchronized spins. Can’t wait for the release and I hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed filming it.”

I Prevail photo by Lindsey Byrnes

Detroit rock band I Prevail has revealed the title and artwork for their forthcoming, debut album. The record is called, Lifelines, and it’s expected out later this year through Fearless Records.

The band’s first full-length record follows the band’s 2014, breakout EP, Heart vs. Mind, which featured their massively successful cover of Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” (watch below). They went on to sell 300,000 singles, generated over 40 million streams and were introduced to a worldwide audience of fans.

I Prevail returns with one of the scene’s most anticipated albums, Lifelines. The new record was recorded at Wall of Sound Studios in Riley, MI with producers B.J. Perry and John Pregler.

“Making this record pushed us to our limits, which is exactly how we wanted it,” says vocalist Brian Burkheiser. “That’s how you know you’ve put your all into something. The writing process took over a year because we just refused to settle.  We’re going to prove to the world that we’re here to stay. Our heart and soul is in every track.”

“We really wanted to stay true to our sound, but also find a way to continue maturing at the same time,” adds lead guitarist Steve Menoian. “I think we found a good balance.  The choruses are bigger, the heavy parts are heavier, and we were able to express a message that is really meaningful to all of us.”

Whether you’re a first-time listener or a long-time die hard, you’ve likely never heard The Color Morale like this before, as the band remains unflinchingly real and unashamedly ambitious in Desolate Divine.

I Prevail Release Video For New Song “Scars”

I Prevail photo by Lindsey Byrnes

Anticipation continues to build as Detroit’s rising rock band I Prevail reveal more information about their debut, full-length record, Lifelines, which is due out later this year. Today, the band has premiered a video for the record’s first new song called “Scars.” Additional details about the album will be unveiled in the coming month. Fans can purchase the new single now at iTunes and can pre-order a physical copy of Lifelines in a variety of bundles now at iprevailband.com.

“Scars was the first song we wrote that really took things to another level.  It instantly set the tone for the rest of the album.  I think it perfectly showcases our sound in terms of the riffs, electronics and big chorus, while still keeping the heaviness.  We knew right away it was the song we wanted to lead with. As for the message, we were seeing so many people being either scared or bullied into a certain lifestyle by different aspects of society.  We still feel those pressures ourselves.  This song is a message telling people to follow your dreams and be proud of who you are, regardless of what’s going on around you.” – Brian Burkheiser (Vocals)

I Prevail’s forthcoming record was recorded at Wall of Sound Studios in Riley, MI with producers B.J. Perry and John Pregler. It follows the band’s immensely popular, breakout EP, Heart vs. Mind, which featured their massively successful cover of Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space.”

The new video for “Scars” comes just ahead of I Prevail’s headlining North American tour, that will kick off later this month in Grand Rapids, MI and will feature support from The White Noise, My Enemies & I and Bad Seed Rising.

As It Is Stars In Fearless Family Gathering: Episode Two

Brighton, UK’s As It Is are part of the second-ever Fearless Family Gathering. The intimate show features three new acoustic performances of “Winter’s Weather,” “Dial Tones” and “Concrete,” all of which can be found on the band’s deluxe edition of their debut album Never Happy, Ever After, available now on iTunes. Watch the entire episode now below.

“The Fearless family gathering was both exciting and different to anything we’d ever done,” guitarist and vocalist Ben Biss says of the experience. “Acoustic, intimate shows always mean any imperfections are more obvious, but that’s what makes it real, honest and human. We’d worked hard on making sure the acoustic arrangements were interesting and a far cry from the album versions.”

Biss explains, “It was so nice to see familiar faces in the small crowd. I remember thinking if I had got to see one of my favorite bands play in the room above a pub for only forty-odd people, I’d be stoked, so I’m glad we got to do something special for a select group of fans old and new. When we got to the bar, there was so much gear and camera equipment; we didn’t know how we were all going to fit it in, but in the end it made for an even more intimate setting. We’re very proud of how it’s come out and feel it conveys a lot of raw emotion that thrives in an intimate setting. It was also the first time anyone heard a version of ‘Winter’s Weather,’ as it hadn’t even come out at that point! It was great to get to hang out and really get to spend quality time talking with the fans due to the quiet nature of the performance. We had a lot of fun with it, and Ali even did a book reading whilst we tuned between songs. It felt special and we hope the fans that were there felt the same way.”

As It Is has been nominated for Best International Band in the Alternative Press Music Awards 2016. The Alternative Press Music Awards will take place on Monday, July 18 in Columbus, OH at Schottenstein Center. The band is currently in the studio recording their sophomore album and follow up to Never Happy, Ever After.

As It Is Tour Dates:
Aug 19 – Dessau, Germany @ Destruction Derby (w/ Roam, Comeback Kid)
Aug 20 – Karlsruhe, Germany @ New Noise Festival (w/ Roam)
Aug 21 – Nuremberg, Germany @ Hirsch (w/ Sleeping With Sirens)
Aug 22 – Wiesen, Austria @ And There Come The Wolves Festival (w/ Sum 41, Sleeping With Sirens)
